Net Zero Emerging Leader

Holst Architecture is a recipient of the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship Grant (more info here) to support our work in meeting and tracking our progress towards meeting our AIA 2030 Commitment.

We are looking for a candidate to fill this paid internship starting January 2019 and concluding at the end of March. Per the terms of the Grant, the intern will be expected to work no less than 120 hours.

The ideal candidate for the Net Zero Emerging Leaders internship will be a graduate or undergraduate architecture student with a basic understanding of project development and the metrics around which 2030 Challenge reporting is based. They must have a strong work ethic and the ability to devise creative solutions. Candidates should be familiar with working with PDFs and proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of Revit is a plus. Most importantly, they must be able to visually communicate technical data and ideas.

Responsibilities:

Once selected, the intern will work with Holst's Sustainability Director and Green Team to understand our current work and continue development of our 2030 Challenge reporting methods. Intern responsibilities will include gathering project data, developing a clear format for information, and uploading all necessary data to the 2030 DDx platform. Training on the use of the DDx platform will be provided.

Specific tasks include:

• Research available tools and other firms' methodology for reporting

• Development of a reporting tool to collect 2018 data

• Reporting of 2018 information using collected data

• Development of metrics and systems for future reporting

• Presentation of findings and tools to Holst staff

Commitment:

The Grant requires 120 hours of work between January and March 2019, or approximately 10 hours per week. Schedule is flexible within normal business hours. The Grant also requires the intern to prepare and deliver a presentation at an event hosted by Energy Trust New Buildings in April 2019 on the results of their internship.
