Holst’s Commitment to Volunteering

In August, Holst celebrated our 50th consecutive month of volunteering; that’s a volunteer event every month since July 2021! Volunteering has truly become a part of Holst’s DNA—supported by leadership with 24 hours of paid volunteer service for every employee each year. We’re proud of our team for always showing up with care and enthusiasm.

Through this work, we have been able to support organizations across Portland. From cooking dinners with Transition Projects and organizing donations with Project Lemonade to gardening with Growing Gardens and exercising with Every Body Athletics, we love every opportunity we have to bond as a team by engaging with the people doing important work in our community.

Our community volunteering projects are led by Holst Associate Jessie Nutz, a talented architect who passionately took on the additional role of Volunteer Coordinator. Thank you, Jessie, for all the work you do connecting Holst with organizations doing great work to make our community better.

How do I become an architect? What is the difference between Architecture and Engineering? Can I job shadow an architect for a day? How do architects turn designs into buildings? Can I tour your office with my child? What roles can I perform in architecture? How do I know if architecture is the field for me? Would an architect speak to my class about architecture? What degrees do I need to be an architect?

Holst invites curious minds to ask questions about architecture.
